2020 Great Alaska Sportsman Show Seminars
Make sure you take in all the FREE seminars and workshops throughout the weekend! This year, we’ve lined up a variety of speakers including Alaska hunting and fishing experts, top vendors, nonprofit agencies and representatives of the Alaska Department of Fish & Game.
Fishing topics covered this year include several presentations on flyfishing for trout, grayling and dolly varden and how to catch king salmon. Be sure to check the schedule we’ll have posted at the show for hourly casting demos on the west side of the Mezzanine level. We’ll also have workshops on how to jig fish in Resurrection Bay and Prince William Sound and how to deep drop fish with electric reels. Learn how to catch more king and coho salmon with downriggers and the latest techniques for catching more halibut by understanding the tides, when and where to go, baits, lures, colors and catch techniques.
In addition to fishing topics, we’ve scheduled some hands-on, outdoor seminars on bear spray basics and on log cabin building. The Office of Boating Safety is back with their popular class on coldwater survival and Russell Knight returns with his ever-popular class on how to handle a brown bear or black bear in the field. Do you have a woodstove, or are you thinking about getting one for your home or cabin? Be sure to attend our brand new workshop on heating with wood now and in the future. Learn the right way to operate a wood heater, fuel management and current and future clean burning technologies. If you’ve ever wanted to own your own piece of Alaska, be sure to attend the Department of Natural Resources Land Sales Team for their seminar on Alaska state land offerings.
Pick up a copy of the complete daily seminar schedule, which will be available inside the doors each day of the show. We’ll also post the schedule here online as soon as it is final! Map out your time at the show and be sure to include your favorite seminars in your plan.
